She answers your video calls. She can't start them.
One button with your name on her phone opens a WhatsApp video call link, so she does not have to find the camera icon.
What happens
She picks up when you call with video. Starting a call herself means opening WhatsApp, finding your chat, then the video icon beside the voice one. Done rarely, that is easy to forget.
Here BabushkApp adds one screen with a big button labelled with your name. It opens a WhatsApp call link you made in advance; the call itself is WhatsApp’s.
Set it up in BabushkApp
Make a video call link in WhatsApp
On your phone, in WhatsApp, create a call link and choose video. The “WhatsApp call” form in BabushkApp links to WhatsApp’s official guide. Copy the link.
Open BabushkApp on her phone
On her phone, tap “Set up buttons” below. If “Quick setup” opens first, finish it with a plain “Call” button to your number. Then press and hold “Setup” for a second and tap “Create button”.
Add the “WhatsApp call” button
In “Button label” write what she calls you, for example ANNA. Choose the type “WhatsApp call”, paste the link into “WhatsApp audio/video call link”, pick a colour under “Button color”, then tap “Add” and “Save”.
Put the icon on her home screen
Add the BabushkApp icon so she starts there, not in WhatsApp (iPhone and Android guides below). To change a button later, press and hold “Setup” for a second.
Check that the button works
- Test on her phone, not only on yours: open the BabushkApp icon from her home screen and tap the button once.
- WhatsApp should open the call for your link, not a chat list or a web page (a web page means WhatsApp is missing or not signed in there). Allow camera and microphone if it asks.
- Open the same link on your phone while she holds hers, and check once that you see and hear each other.
What BabushkApp does not do
- The button joins a call link; it does not ring your phone. Agree on a time and open the same link yourself then. Whether WhatsApp tells you someone joined is WhatsApp’s decision.
- Only the “WhatsApp call” button starts video from this screen. “Call” and SMS cannot; a “Telegram chat” button opens the chat, and the video icon there is hers to find.
- It needs WhatsApp installed and signed in on her phone, and internet. If WhatsApp reports the link as invalid, make a new one and paste it in through “Setup”.
- It is a shortcut to a call link, not an emergency, medical or monitoring service. You will not know whether she tapped it.
